HEALTH AND SAFETY

The 110m multi-span replacement bridge in the Waihopai Valley Marlborough was a Design and Contract to replace Bridge 256, washed away in the July 2020 flood event.  As the head contractor, Egypt Ltd worked with CDT Consultants for the full bridge design.  6No 12m deep concrete reinforced piles with a 9m pile stem constructed by the piling sub-contractor Thelin Construction.  Egypt’s Site team undertook all bridge superstructure works from the pile caps through to the bridge beams.  Each of the seven spans has 4No precast double hollow core bridge beams and lands on a piled concrete abutment.

The 700m of road approach construction works to create a new alignment onto this bridge have been issued as a variation to the original contract.
